“DENTAL AI ACCELERATOR – AI for the Future of Digital Dentistry”

INTRODUCTION
A five-day hands-on workshop titled “Dental AI Accelerator – AI for the Future of Digital Dentistry” was conducted from 17th to 21st August 2026 at Navodaya Dental College & Hospital, Raichur, by Mr. Uma Desu. The workshop was designed to introduce dental students, interns, postgraduate students, faculty members, and dental professionals to the rapidly evolving applications of AI & Generative AI in dentistry.
The programme focused on practical, real-world applications of AI rather than theoretical learning alone. Participants were introduced to various AI tools and guided through hands-on projects involving clinical documentation, dental imaging, patient education, clinic automation, digital content creation, and AI-powered dental applications.
OBJECTIVES OF THE WORKSHOP
- Introduce AI tools in dentistry.
- Train participants to develop AI-enabled prototype devices for dental clinical applications, career opportunities, entrepreneurship, and team-based innovation.
- Demonstrate AI-assisted dental imaging & clinical decision-support concepts.
- Explore AI applications in patient education and communication.
DAY-WISE PROCEEDINGS
Day 1 – The Future of Digital Dentistry & AI Workflow Automation
Focused on AI-driven transformation in dentistry, covering global AI trends, smart dental clinics, Robotic Process Automation (RPA), workflow mapping, & opportunities for AI integration to improve clinical productivity.
Hands-on activity: Participants designed an AI-enabled dental clinic workflow, gaining practical insight into integrating AI into routine dental practice.
Day 2 – Generative AI for Clinical Intelligence
Focused on Generative AI in clinical dentistry, covering prompt engineering, LLMs, AI-assisted documentation, treatment planning, patient education, consent/referral documentation. Participants learned to use effective prompts to generate structured clinical and educational content.
Hands-on activity: Developed AI-powered clinical assistants for dental applications.
Day 3 – Building AI-Powered Dental Applications
Focused on developing practical AI applications and digital assets, including no-code app development, AI-assisted websites and dashboards, presentations, animations, dental chatbots, and digital content creation using platforms such as Bolt, Lovable, and Streamlit.
Hands-on activity: Participants developed AI-powered applications and digital assets, transforming ideas into functional prototypes.
Day 4 – Dental Imaging, AI Agents & Smart Clinics
Focused on AI applications in dental imaging and intelligent clinical workflows, covering AI-assisted radiology, caries and bone-loss detection, oral lesion screening, treatment planning, patient recall systems, follow-up automation, smart clinic workflows, and predictive analytics.
Hands-on activity: Participants developed AI agents and dental imaging prototypes, exploring AI’s role in diagnostic support and dental clinic management.
Day 5 – Dental AI Innovation Challenge
The final day focused on AI innovation, career opportunities, entrepreneurship, and team-based innovation.
Hands-on activity: Participants took part in an AI Innovation Challenge, presenting projects that demonstrated practical AI solutions to real-world challenges in dentistry.
CONCLUSION
Dental AI Accelerator – AI for the Future of Digital Dentistry workshop provided practical introduction to AI through education, hands-on activities, clinical applications, & innovation. Programme enabled participants to move beyond understanding AI & explore its practical use in dental education, clinical practice, & patient care. The workshop concluded with an AI Innovation Challenge, allowing participants to present innovative solutions to real-world dental challenges.
