WORLD ORAL HEALTH DAY – 2026
World Oral Health Day, observed annually on March 20, emphasizes the importance of maintaining good oral hygiene and raising awareness about oral diseases and their prevention. In celebration of World Oral Health Day 2026, the Department of Public Health Dentistry, Navodaya Dental College and Hospital, organized a series of outreach programs including oral screening camps, health education activities, a public pledge initiative, and a selfie awareness booth. These programs were conducted at various community locations to promote oral health awareness and encourage preventive dental care among the public.
Camp Reports
An oral screening and health education camp was conducted on 26th March 2026 at the Primary Health Center, Yaapaldinni, organized by department of public health dentistry and headed by Dr. Zaheer Ahmed. The camp was carried out by a team consisting of Dr. Zaheer Ahmed (Staff), Dr. Y. S. Sai Santhoshi (Postgraduate), and Dr. Maltesh Bankapur (Intern), supported by para-dental staff. A total of 36 patients were screened, out of which 26 patients were referred for further treatment. The camp focused on early diagnosis and oral health awareness.
An oral screening and health education camp was conducted on 7th April 2026 at the KSRTC Bus Stand, Raichur, organized by Navodaya Dental College under the leadership of Dr. Nasi Ismail. The team included Dr. Nasi Ismail (Staff), Dr. Y. S. Sai Santhoshi (Postgraduate), and interns Dr. Maltesh Bankapur, Dr. Sai Meghana, Dr. Kulkarni Sanskruthi, and Dr. Safa, along with para-dental staff. A total of 104 patients were screened, and 85 were referred for further treatment. The camp also included oral health education sessions for the public.
Another camp was conducted on 9th April 2026 at the Primary Health Center, Chandrabanda, organized by Navodaya Dental College and headed by Dr. Zaheer Ahmed. The team included Dr. Zaheer Ahmed (Staff), Dr. Y. S. Sai Santhoshi (Postgraduate), and Dr. Safa (Intern), supported by para-dental staff. During the camp, 29 patients were screened, and 26 patients were referred for further care.
An oral screening and health education camp was conducted on 11th April 2026 at Kankadas Orphanage, organized by Navodaya Dental College and headed by Dr. Kiran Kumar. The team comprised Dr. Niketan Kumar (Staff), Dr. Y. S. Sai Santhoshi (Postgraduate), Dr. Maltesh Bankapur (Intern), and Dr. Sai Meghana (Intern), along with para-dental staff. The camp mainly focused on oral health education and screening among children and residents of the orphanage.
An oral screening camp was conducted on 15/4/26 at Nirashitra parihara Kendra
For mentally retarted patients . The camp was organised by Dr .Sai Santhoshi and it was headed by Dr. Zaheer Ahmed.The team comprised of interns .Dr. Thanmaie and Dr. Mohitha. A total of 95 patients were screened and 90 patients were referred to Navodaya Hospital. Tooth brushes and tooth pastes were distributed for all the patients in the hospital.
A screening camp was conducted on 18th April 2026 at the Railway Station, Raichur, organized by Navodaya Dental College under the guidance of Dr. Zaheer Ahmed. The team included Dr. Zaheer Ahmed (Staff), Dr. Y. S. Sai Santhoshi (Postgraduate), and interns Dr. Sneha, Dr. Shirin, Dr. Neeraj, and Dr. Debraj, supported by para-dental staff. A total of 7 patients were screened, out of which 6 were referred for further treatment.
