RGUHS Kalaburagi Zone Chess Tournament 2025 (Men and Women) Successfully Hosted at Navodaya Dental College, Raichur

Venue: NET Campus, Navodaya Dental College & Hospital, Raichur
Navodaya Dental College & Hospital, Raichur, successfully hosted the RGUHS Kalaburagi Zone Chess Tournament (Men & Women) on 1st and 2nd August 2025 at the NET Campus. The two-day event witnessed competitive spirit and intellectual engagement among students from various health science institutions.
The tournament was formally inaugurated by Dr. T. Srinivas, Registrar, Navodaya Education Trust (NET), who also made the symbolic inaugural pawn move. In his keynote, he emphasized how chess enhances strategic thinking, focus, and discipline. Dr. Girish Katti, Principal, Navodaya Dental College, highlighted the importance of sports in overall student development. Dr. Devanand, Dean, Navodaya Medical College, encouraged students to embrace mind sports for personal and academic growth. Mr. Nethanial, RGUHS Zone Co-ordinator, lauded the efforts of the organizers and stressed the value of fair play.
The dignitaries present were Dr. Amruth Reddy, Director of Operations, NET, Dr. P. Vijay Kumar, Director, IP & SA, Mr. Chandrakant, Director of Physical Education. Welcome address given by Dr. Kiran Kumar. The vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Rakshit B M, expressing gratitude to the dignitaries, participants, guests, and organizing team for their contributions.
PARTICIPATION HIGHLIGHTS:
Over 174 players consisting of 21 Men Teams and 08 Women Teams from 27 colleges across the Kalaburagi Zone participated. The event provided an excellent platform for students to demonstrate their intellectual skill, sportsmanship, and strategic ability.
