The World Health Organization has designated 31st May of each year as the WORLD NO TOBACCO DAY (WNTD).
31st May is World No Tobacco Day (WNTD). In 2025 WHO and public health champions from across the globe will come together for WNTD to raise awareness about the harmful tactics of the tobacco industry.
The theme of WNTD 2025 Unmasking the appeal: Exposing industry tactics on tobacco and nicotine products This year’s WNTD campaign aims to reveal the strategies employed by the tobacco and nicotine industries to make their harmful products enticing, particularly to young people. By exposing these tactics, the tobacco industry specifically targets youth to create a new generation of tobacco addicts to replace the millions of customers each year who die or quit using tobacco. It intentionally designs products and uses marketing strategies that appeal directly to children and youth in an attempt to addict them to these harmful products.

Department of Public health Dentistry Navodaya Dental College Conducted a series of events from 27nd may 2025 to 5thJune 2025. To protect the younger generation to stand against the tobacco industry, to create awareness among the general Public about the the ill effects of tobacco and provide assistance to quit the habits.
Promotive, Preventive ,Screening Activities
- Outreach program at Government School,Bijengera
The Camp was conducted on 27/05/25 at Government school,Bijengara . The camp was headed by Dr.Somnath Reddy Reader Dept of Public Health Dentistry with 06 interns. Oral Health education and awareness about tobacco cessation, dental and screening camp was done for the village people. A total of 55 patients were screened and 42 patients were referred to Navodaya Dental College for further treatment. The program was concluded at 1:00 pm.

2. Outreach Program at Hosapete Village
The Camp was conducted on 28/05/25 at Hosapete village . The camp was headed by Dr.Zaheer Ahmed Prof Dept of Public Health Dentistry with 06 interns. Oral Health education and awareness about tobacco cessation, dental and screening camp was done for the village people. A total of 39 patients were screened and 19 patients were referred to Navodaya Dental College for further treatment. The program was concluded at 1:00 pm.

3. Screening and Skit Play at KSRTC Bus stand
The Camp was conducted on 31/05/25 at KSRTC Bus-stand. The camp was headed by Dr.Somnath reddy Associate Prof, Dept of Public Health Dentistry with 10 interns. Oral Health education and awareness about tobacco cessation, dental and screening camp was done for the people in KSRTC Bustand. A total of 100 patients were screened and 70 patients were referred to Navodaya Dental College for further treatment. The program was concluded at 1:00 pm.

Basavaraja, Dr.Udayasri,Dr.Kareem bee ,Dr.Akshitha, Dr.Ayesha taj,Dr. Manvitha, Dr.Susheela, Dr.Haritha .Awareness has been created through a play about the complications of tobacco.

The Camp was conducted on 2 nd June 2025 at Government school,Mittimalkapur . The camp was headed by Dr.Kirankumar Associate Prof Dept of Public Health Dentistry with 06 interns. Oral Health education and awareness about tobacco cessation, dental and screening camp was done for the village people. A total of 55 patients were screened and 42 patients were referred to Navodaya Dental College for further treatment. The program was concluded at 1:00 pm.

5.Outreach Program at Basava vidyanikethana School,Raichur
The Camp was conducted on 03/06/25 at Basavavidyanikethana School,Raichur. . The camp was headed by Dr.Somnath Reddy Prof, Dept of Public Health Dentistry with 06 interns. Oral Health education and awareness about tobacco cessation, dental and screening camp was done for the village people. A total of 78 patients were screened and 28 patients were referred to Navodaya Dental College for further treatment. The program was concluded at 1:00 pm.

6.CDE Program on Quit Tobbaco and Choose Health
The Continued Dental Education program on topic Quit Tobbaco and Choose Health was conducted on 5th June 2025 at Gurumurthy Hall,Navodaya Campus ,Raichur from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM The program was organized by the Department of Public Health Dentistry and NSS unit of Navodaya Dental College. Dr.Suresh Babu AM Prof and HOD,Department of Public Health Dentistry welcomed the gathering and gave a brief introduction of World No Tobacco Day. The presidential address was given by Dr.GirishKatti,Principal ,Navodaya Dental College and he spoke about how children are influenced by the celebrities appeals which tobacco industry captures. Dr.T.Srinivas Registrar,NET chief guest for the program highlighted the tobacco ill-effects and burden on the society

,Principal Navodaya Dental College gave on brief overview on tobacco, Dr. Suresh Babu gave lecture on tobacco and health followed by Dr.Somnath Reddy gave a lecture on ill effects of tobacco. Dr.Zaheer Ahmed highlighted on the prevention of tobacco. The pledge oration was given to all the participants and attendees.
7.Pledge Ceremony for Tobacco Free Generation and De Addiction
